    Detroit's Premiere "Rock" Venue and Hot Dog Joint

    Located in historic Corktown, the UFO FACTORY features live music throughout the week. Inside the venue you'll find Laika Dog, a gourmet hot-dog joint. The UFO FACTORY features rotating art shows as well as weekly karaoke and monthly fog blowouts.

    • Airea Dee Matthews

      Detroit poet. 2016 winner of the Yale Series for Younger Poets Award

      Airea D. Matthews is a 2015 Kresge Literary Arts Fellow. She is currently the Assistant Director of the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she earned her MFA. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Best American Poetry 2015, edited by Sherman Alexie, American Poet, The Missouri Review, The Baffler, Callaloo, Indiana Review, WSQ and elsewhere. Matthews' fiction and essays appear in SLAB, Michigan Quarterly Review and Vida: Her Kind. Her performance work has been featured at the Cannes Lions Festival, PBS’ RoadTrip Nation and NPR. She lives in Detroit with her husband and their four children.

        Founded in 2014 by Suraj Bhamra, Negative and Print is an independent lab, photographic studio, art gallery, and community center focused on traditional photographic processes using artisan techniques. With the rise of film as an artistic medium in recent years, we strive to serve the community of creative photographers who choose film for their medium of work.

        • Lisa Fay Coutley

          Poet, Essayist, Editor and Educator

          Lisa Fay Coutley’s debut poetry collection Errata won the 2014 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry Open Competition Award and was published by Southern Illinois University Press in fall 2015. She is the author of two chapbooks—In the Carnival of Breathing (Black Lawrence Press, 2011), winner of the Black River Chapbook Competition, and Back-Talk (Articles Press, 2010), winner of the Rooms Chapbook Contest.

            Sarah Rose Sharp is a Detroit-based writer, activist, photographer and multimedia artist. She writes about art and culture in Detroit for the Knight Arts Foundation, ZIPR Magazine, infinite mile, and others. She has been to all 50 states and shown work in New York and Detroit. She is not a huge fan of bios.
